I'VE BEEN DYEING TO GO OUTSIDE, but didn't want to melt...

Eight days of a heat wave...

 Had left us
lethargic...

 Until today,
I hadn't
lifted a paint brush...

or even had the energy to
ponder
wander
saunter...

 Until today!
Dyed some fabric leaves
to use in some mixed media paintings.
YES, I am sure you've seen leaves this color on trees everywhere, all over the world!

 Here are some of them,
INSTA~DRYING

FRESH
COOL (YES COOL)

AHHHHHH

 PURPOSEFUL...

 and
HAPPY ACCIDENTS...

Using up left over paints...

SUMMMMMER TIMMMME...AND THE COTTON IS HIGH...WE'RE HAVIN' A HEAT WAVE...SO I LIKE THE NIGHTS...late late nights...

I started this whole piece a long time ago!
"imported cigars 1858"
(great old stuff)

It could have been a year ago?

It's been hanging on a wall in my studio
so that I might figure how to finish it...hmmm

There is so much to it..,

 Labor intensive...
and then...

It magically came to fruition!!! (not)

This was after finding a beautiful old book binding, the perfect color, and an old antique ad, and added some more white writing. I wish you could see it for real... smiling, I am.

Just a happy little fool around piece with ink,
my own mask and pens.
We all need a little magic in our lives.

Remember those beauties I changed with photo ops?
The African lilies?

They don't bloom very long ...

 But when they do...

 They turn themselves...

And everything nearby into such beauty!!!

 Just like what a
FAIRY GARDEN
must look like!
MAGICAL and CHEERY!

 a FUN little ditty...

And something that I shan't  save...
I was fooling around, experimenting using inks of two colors
only.
While referring to a mag photo, so this doesn't even look like something that came from me, ha! It did, but if you showed me a year later, I truly wouldn't know this!

Hope you are having a wonderful summer!

FINISHING...

 It's a miracle...
I finished a piece!
Inks and acrylics
"drenched in SUNSHINE"

 Actually finished this one
that I showed while working on it!
YAY

 Close up
obviously!

Close up
My own altered photo
of our cheese cloth curtains I dyed one day...
drying in the wind.
I am so APPRECIATIVE of a new season,
more sunshiny days,
and walks in the evening...

MAY DAY...PLAY DAY...

This is a section of a piece I am working on...
I took some photos of a dried flower I had gelled up to preserve.
Then transferred it onto the dyed papers,
then painted them to bring our their attributes.

Here's another one I've been working on.
Lot's of work going in to these.
Some very fun items as well;
torn photo of a tree, some hand dyed papers,
an old painted paper of mine, ribbon, sewing, writing and more.
Still a work in progress...but getting closer.

 Another "almost done" project..
I like how it looks here...but it's a bit too dark in person.
So I have some figuring out to do.
Some of the materials are; scrap of wallpaper,
own writing on torn pages, and some torn painted papers.
I also experimented a lot with certain colors I love and am
learning and learning...

 A little snippet 6" x 6" from a 34" x 36" canvas...
a wip as well...

Another work in progress...just can't decide where to take this...maybe by next year...

DYEING away in a DAZE...

 i realized the other day...

i have been dyeing numerous materials since my 30's.

 and now
in my late 60's...

 i simply
NEVER get bored with the process...

 Such an unexpected surprise
when they dry,
when you have unwrapped,
unbundled,
untied,
your treasures!

This is one of those acts of creativity that is such
PURE PROCESS...
the delight,
the surprise,
the
UNEXPECTED!

 And then...
to be able to use them all in my art work...
SUCH REWARDS
cannot be explained!

In between times...
we have been finishing our
addition to our home.
We built our own home over 30 yrs ago,
with the intention of these 3 rooms...
all primed and reinforced for this to happen.
Have we lost our minds?
Why yes we have.
We were too tired when we finished our home back in the day...and now EYE am too tired to finish this...but Richard carries on...ugh.
Such determination this man has.

HAPPY WORKING HOURS TO YOU ALL, whether that be in the paid work force or in retirement days, SERIOUSLY!
