i understand (but abhor) when people ask me how long a piece of art has taken me...
for so many reasons, i know they want to KNOW...
and for so many reasons, i don't want to say, most of the time.
One piece might take a few hours, another, a few days, weeks, months and this one...

if you were to ask...;)
a year...or it could have taken 6 months...

you see, i NEVER EVER keep track.
it seriously is not important to me HOW LONG...

it's what i LOVE
it's what i am PASSIONATE about
it's what i darn near live for some times
IT IS
;)

HAPPY TUESDAY FRIENDS
and thank you always, those that leave a comment,
giving me clues as to how a piece might make you feel,
the colors you like, the style of something that speaks to you,
and more!

THANK YOU

  1. Good morning dearest Wanda! I hear ya (and so understand), about the process of having to keep track on how long a piece works. I believe it is a struggle for us who want to produce and give shape to our passions to have to think about TIME. For me, a good poem could take a day (if I'm really lucky and have been blessed by the muses!) or, it can take me a year after putting to rest restless ideas. It's all relative and FUN and can't be contained into a formula. Sure, we can learn techniques and apply them, but in the end, how can we tame the wild heart? We can only work it with paper, paint, words, and then let it go and allow the thing speak for itself. It's all a process for the piece and mostly, for US!

    HAPPY DAY! Anita

    1. how I love the way you think and state such meaningful life lessons Anita. you teach me so much every day, even when we are on the same wave length. and I especially love that, "fun can't be contained into a formula"...shoot, nothing can. I also realize that some people are more disciplined or organized than moi. I never wear a watch, even when I was in the work place...I want to be right where I am when I am doing it, with no strings, or time attached. I hope you have a wonderful work week ahead, leaving you with time for fun and creating. xoxo

  2. Wonderful cabinet door painting Wanda! So many beautiful blues and details. I am so in love with blue these days.

I used to keep track of how long a painting took me. I would even put a mark on the back for every hour spent. I do still think about it and will add up the time in my head, but I don't really care. So most of the time I just paint and forget about it.

    1. you are such a dear Lisa! thank you for your beautiful words. and there are lots of people in this world that like to know what's happening at what time, or day, or which airlines are you flying on...not me...and it's okay for others to keep track, you cracked me up with marks on the back. it's just that I am so much the other way. it sure is interesting how we all look so differently at the same things, or the flip side of that "the same way". now I am going to have a look on your blog which always leaves me with a smile and comfort. xo

  3. I feel the same way..and also, what difference does it make how long it took? Do they want to justify the price? I'd say more, but your comment box is going crazy, and moving all around..really hard to type. what the??

  4. 3 hrs later..I'm baaack. I had computer trouble..it wasn't your blog. I think I fixed it. Need a nap now. zzzzz :))) But, yeah..why do people care how long it took? Maybe they're artists, and are trying to figure out their own pricing? Maybe they're just making conversation? Not sure.

I really don't know why people ask those time questions...probably all different reasons. I just know...I can't live that way and it's okay...just gets to me sometimes. now I am going to take a nap. glad you fixed your computer and THANK GOD I scream it wasn't mine ahhahahah cocoxoxoxox those c's are supposed to be exes.;)
