Charcoal and Shiva Sticks....

yikes...haven't been around here for awhile...
class has been in with misty and i have
been practicing like mad...and loving it all!!!
she's a wonderfully tough task master...
with no regrets here on learning and learning...
she's getting closer to being finished...

i am awaiting misty's answer on how to

get into the eye area for details, while using the oils...

  1. Hi Wanda,
    Your portraits are looking good! I've been away so I'm just getting caught up with my blogging pals. Keep up the great work, I can't wait to see the next one.

  2. I can see the different approaches to creating a face. This is a bold approach that softens into a lovely face as you progress. Is it easy to correct mistakes as you move along?

    I like this pose a lot also, and must owrk on having more than head and neck, it makes the work interesting I think. I like to go to google images and type in hair styles to find pictures to go by.

    I look at Misty's blog also and admire her work. It sounds like your really enjoying the class and doing such good work. Yes your right, practice really helps.

    I go to sleep at night thinking about what I should do on projects.

  6. WOW!! I LOVE this one, Wanda. I know..I say that about every one of your paintings, but this one made my eyes pop out. heehee No lie!!

    This is done with oils, huh? I have had my eye on some water soluble oils for a while now. Is that what you're using? I'm thinking I need something different for the summer months when it's 100F around here for weeks on end. hm..

    Man, I wish I was in Misty's class with you.

    ::weep::
    ::sob::
    ::scream into my pillow::

  8. heehee stand up comedy..you're right!! i say the same thing myself ALL the time. i should definitely be doing that!! If only I didn't have this teeny tiny problem with being extremely shy (you'd never know it, but it's true), and not being able to speak in public. hm..

    greg keeps threatening to get me on his voice recorder or his video camera..he wants the world to see what he *really* has to put up with on a daily basis. especially when i sit at the top of the stairs (because my voice echoes and is really loud) and sing made up songs at the top of my very off-key voice. and, i'm not even drunk. pinky swear!! well, y'know..most of the time, anyway. heh heh

    no, but for real..i wake up in the morning crazy as a loon, and it just goes on and on from there. :D he swears he could make a BIG pile of money on youtube. ::snort:: he's pretty funny, that greg, is. :D
