Rainy Day Reflections / Altered Into Spring

"I AM" / Misty's Wednesdays!

Here is where integrity comes in, i do believe.

i wanted to buy a painting that looked like this for my graceful daughter, Erin, many moons ago. But alas, just couldn't pay the price.

so i sketched her and have painted her 3 times now.

This was the 3rd.

Altered her, cut her out, danced her into my collage. (I don't know the mans name unfortunately, but did talk to him exstenively. A beautiful man inside he is.)

I just can't find one word except, whirling. Tomorrow one sister and i are flying south to meet 2 other sisters. we are going to listen to music and dance a little. then "home" to mom and dad's and to 2 other brothers and their families. I'm whirling in all directions trying to ready for the trip.

I am soooo sad to end with misty and all you other great ladies on this fine trip taken together. i didn't miss a day till now, but must fly...wait....that's a better word...FLY!

And Misty, i feel like i am flying with new found wonders to stretch and go with. I thank you from the heart, we are truly blessed by this ride! love, wanda

I was so exhausted last night, i forgot to paint little flowers on my young girl's head piece. Later for sure. Also i didn't even share. I watch some of my after school kids on overload from over scheduling them...crying 5 year old: "I don't want to go to karate, i just want to stay and play with my friends" this is from a 'never cries' little boy. Don't get me wrong, I understand parents and what they think is best for their children. Yet i witness so many children growing up too fast without ever knowing what its like to dream, pretend and just BE. And the flip side is i also witness the children who go to never never land on a regular basis. i have also shared with more than one principal, almost every little over active or troubled boy soars in the arts, just helping them find their niche is priceless to me.

I chose a rectangle which is the bottom surface...a gessoed book backing. Crooked rectangles for the top of the tree and the trunk, one rectangle window. Covered the singing tree with a light fabric. Collaged the rest, except, drew and painted the windows. The crow in the right hand corner was in a parking lot and I cut out a print of him.

1. I'll be married for 40 yrs. this May. I love him even more and he still makes me laugh till i cry.
2. I'm the oldest of 7 brothers and sisters and like and love them a lot.
3. I can be the silliest girl on earth or the deep mature woman, hah haaaa.
4. These have been the best years of my life esp. the last 10 (& it hasn't been all roses).
5. I was diagnosed with ADHD late in life, the title gave me an excuse to be crazy ( it's been a curse and a blessing).
6. It's hard for me to hold back any of myself any more, (used to be so private) life has become "too short" and I'm told, "I'm always open". I'll always be unfolding to life and what comes my way.
7. I love my after school kids and the honesty and delight they bring to all who ARE open!
8. I belive in God and have been studying Tao for the last 10 yrs.
9. Art is one of my passions, duh huh.

I learned so many things painting today, right and wrong. i white washed everything in my room that already had paint on it. this was really a fun experimenting time, thank you misty. love wanda And even even more white washed over the whole picture

First sketch on scratch paper. put linen with matte medium over the top as an experiment. then matte mediumed it to stiff water color paper. going to paint it later to see what happens.

After following Misty's "color days" I have discovered that i personally have a hard time using JUST one color! But i am going to force myself when this experience ends, to try Really doing that. A Smile here and happy new year to all on the 14th!
