this first week is pencil, erasers and smudgers.
funny thing is, i've never sketched much and went
right to painting...didn't know ANYTHING...and so now i know
this will help with my painting...

  1. I did click to enlarge, you have done a good job on the nose and lips in that second scetch. I look at Misty's work also, her journals are most creative and have so much charm. I cut some brown paper with the idea I could do that kind of work with some help from the paper. I always think a dab of color and then mess it up. I paint on brown paper a lot, because it can go into a journal without so much thickness and it scans nicely also. It also mounts on newspaper without problems. YOu must be having such a great learning experience, you know a lot already and that helps.

Thank you for your comments it really means a lot.

Your fanciful neck wear is so beautiful, a friend knitted me a couple of those and I wear them all the time. The other thing that helps is I have an allergy to nickle so these accessories are really nice for me.

I always talk too much on blogs, it is just there is a lot to say.

  2. Hi Wanda,
These girls are looking good! I especially like the top one-she has such an expression. I know you're having a blast with Misty. I can't wait to see what's next!

  3. oooh, yes! love these!! i just learned the drawing trick, too, last summer. i used to hate drawing, and would rush to paint. but once you learn just little things it makes everything so much easier.

and now, lately, i've been purposely leaving pencil marks in my paintings. i LOVE doing that. no more trying to cover them up or sketching so lightly they don't show. it's my favorite part in the little details now.

there are some great drawing videos on youtube, btw. i know you're too busy right now, but maybe later after your class is over.
