WONDERFUL RANDOM SUMMER DAYS!

reminds me of a Chinese lantern ;)...but it's a flower

 such a wonderful quote...

I needed to pick up my brushes today after many dry days...
a little card was in order!
I sewed the words on with shiny plastic threads.

 one thing lead to another...

I decided to use this same beautiful quote on this piece today as well...

 up close textures...

 top is cheese cloth,
the bottom piece is a section of Great Nana's quilt piece...

and when I began this one...after the card...
I remembered WHY the wait to paint...
yes...this is going somewhere, maybe a lot more,
maybe a little more...have to wait for "it" longer...
going slow on this one ;)

SPECIAL PLATES...I used for a couple of shindigs we've had...

then made more Caprese salad for a barbeque party we attended...
with more of these special plates ;)...she is 30 yrs. old now, that
darlin' daughter of ours...she and her husband chuckled dearly!

just about this time next year...we plan on going to Santa Catalina, Panama...
we will see what we shall see!

SAVORing summer at a slow simmer...
but it still goes fast, eh?

  1. Good morning dear artist, WANDA MILLER! I love to come and see what your free spirit musters up, and I am always happy when I see your process. There are many things I love about blogging, and YOU, the people behind the blogs, are what I love the most. But daily, we can learn so much from each other, and I've been "observing" your mode of operation as an artist.

I was born artistic, but we all know that this gift is not enough. We need to develop our God-given skills, and painting and drawing were things I never developed, so now as an adult, the one component that has been missing in my skill set as a seasoned artist (illustrating, photography, even my poetry writing) is............the FREEDOM with which artists develop ideas. It is imperative that artists keep record of their process, and I appreciate how you show us that part of your developing art pieces. See, as a trained and experienced teacher, I do this all the time with students' work, and I am barely starting to become more free to experiment with my writing process and to appreciate each step of the way.

Your lovely work here reminds me of what I did yesterday with a poem. I wrote a draft (the first draft is out of the heart, but the revisions are from the head!) and then I printed out my draft. THEN....the fun began. I cut up each line of the poem into collage strips, laid them down on the floor, then started to rearrange the lines, read them aloud until the poem had a richer and more interesting syntax. I WAS HAVING SO MUCH FUN! I started to feel a more free sense of play Wanda, and it felt as if I was doing what you do here....

So poetry must be like painting, only with words. Thank you for being so free and creating playful and meaningful pieces that speak to me. Next dream? To put one of my poems on an art piece like you.

    BIG HUGS! Anita

  2. oh Anita, replying here so i can remember each and every thought of yours. First i thank you for your beautiful thoughts, ideas and words. we are quite parallel in our art it seems as i truly hear you. FREEDOM and PLAY...when we reach that part with some assurance, it FEELS so good and such WONDROUS work can come of it.

i remember just a few years back, my biggest wish was to be able to incorporate some of my knowledge and to be able to paint...putting it all together. it happened! and then it happened! and then it continues to be more fun and deep at times. i have no words for this, but you have stated them in your message so astutely! The word "play" i have used right in the middle of some pieces.

i love your PLAY with words...it is something i do constantly...i have see through cups of words, thoughts, quotes, my own and others...a WORD COLLECTOR ;) ! in a workshop with Misty Mawn, she gave us this idea to move the words around and see what happens...i play this game often...and surprises come each and every time. i HEAR what you mean to incorporate your own poems within!

Poetry IS painting with words, i say. there is a quote i've seen, "you are poetry", and "you are the poetry"...that about says it if one has delved at all into this realm, a realm i deeply love.

It's so important to have these dreams and goals...we reach them, only to relish and move on to more learning. But PLAY is essential to me as is laughing.

i relish your thoughts immensely and lovingly, Anita, you bring such wealth to my life as it is, especially now.
