NATURE DANCING and Bodega Bay...one of my most favorite places on earth...

 i delivered this today...
a commission...
for some very special people...
it's title; "Nature Dancing"

 it started out like this...

 then....

 it took so many turns,

so very many layers of paint...

 fibers, modeling paste...

it began to take on new and wondrous life,
yes, even to me,
the one painting it ;)

these were 3 little lilting flowers up in the right hand corner...
but i HAD to turn them into little birds!
this was a beautiful learning experience, bold, and brave
for me...i wish there were a way to explain any or all of it...
and the family loved it!

I'm still not through with gray...

i added a little blue to it and painted another bench my husband made!

last weekend, my nephew asked his 19 yr old son what he'd like to do special
for his birthday.
Zack said he'd love to go to the coast and visit where his grandma's
ashes were spread...taking his girlfriend, his dad and i...
his grandma is my sister Carolyn. ;)

we stopped at the famous old Ernie's by the roadside, literally!
toasting that special sister of mine and mother and grandmother!

these 2 found a crab and ran all over the place like young people do!

 the sun began to sink...

the bitter sweet ride home was memorable,
dry docked boats by the roadside...

 gorgeous wild life and mudflats...

 roadside farms...

and a most gorgeous sunset.

CONTENTED and BLESSED are we...

  1. Dear, dear Wanda....this spot we witnessed about five summers ago now; we went up to see my husband's sister and she drove us to Bodega Bay. I was thrilled and happy to see that the original school house built for the movie set of Hitchcock's THE BIRDS was still there, standing in the middle of nature's bounty of terrain. The coastline is spectacular, and instead of seeing construction there, we saw a most beautiful line of sand and water, and you have captured that here. Your photos of the "sinking" sun (I love that description!) are perfect.

YOUR WORK OF ART.....the layers you put in require a trust on your part and skills that allow you to carry on and have such great results! I suppose the steps you take are like writing. You start out not knowing where you are going, but as you apply the layers of paint or words, the thing starts to take shape and meaning. BRAVO!

  5. Ack! I'm just seeing this now. I thought you had given up on your blog there for a while, girlie, so I stopped checking. I'm happy to see you're still here, and what a post this is..such a sweet one in memory of Carolyn. I love seeing the photos of Cali..it almost feels like I was there along with you for the ride. xoxo I think of you every day.

  6. Dearest WANDA MILLER!!!!!!!

How fun to see you come to visit me last night; I am here now early in the morning enjoying my blog time before I rush off to work, but I wanted to thank you for your kind and warm greeting at my new post. YES, we all imagine to certain degrees...you express yours in fabulous paints (I tried painting this weekend...NOT a pretty sight!) and some of us use words, numbers, whatever....but the fun is that we are made to dream and look up and look inward and then do something extraordinary.

May this be a new day of possibilities for YOU my friend! BIG HUGS! Anita
