Friends and Whimsy

a friend and fellow artist gave me a cupboard door last month :0
he found out how much i ADORE painting on them, especially WHIMSICAL paintings!

Measures 1 1/4 ft. X 2 1/2 ft.

i thought much about he and his girlfriend kate (a long time friend) and how they were getting married some day...
kate is wearing a bit of chiffon on her neckline...i couldn't resist!

and you can just about see right into Kermit's heart right here...he has a LARGE one in real life ;)

an...d i delightfully used the side of the cupboard that had 2 large holes already drilled, making fun little markings all around both!

a GRAND day and HONOR to all our veterans, this MONDAY, including my own husband of whom i am glad was able to come back to us after SERVING in Viet Nam, a changed man, a changed AMERICA.

GIFTS REMEMBERED

Photoshop enhanced ONce

The real piece
EXPLANATION:
i printed part of my painting of a face and flower onto cotton and then learned in DJ PETTIT'S workshop how to paint the cotton.
then added fibers and fabric, words...

a CLOSE UP of the words...i have used these words before in more than one painting...they are POWERFUL and hold much MEANING for me :)

i was given birthday money in july and put it toward PHOTOSHOP...something i have desired to attempt so many times. with Joanne Rose's encouragement, i just "went for it" and will never be sorry.
i want to learn how to enhance and come up with creative ways to tweak my artwork and this will be one avenue, i'm sure of many...one thing leads to another...GRATEFULLY, THANKFULLY...to alllll my teachers, those giving persons, including the ones we don't pay...they just INSPIRE our DESIRES and spark our IMAGINations to no end!
another GRATEFUL day!

i am wishing you creative paths, sparked ideas, ANY POSITIVE CREATIONS, today and EVERYday!

a close up of her head, the same is on the little extended angel coming up from her large wing
(hand dyed cheese cloth, i colored many moons ago...that JUST RIGHT FINISH)

the WEE angel...but POWERul i say!

the wisp of an angel tucked in between the large angel's wing and back :))

...so glad that MY SISTER showed up in the finished product! i have a lot of blood sisters, but i GOTTA' LOTTA SOUL SISTERS out there i LOVE!

SPECIAL WORDS to place near her neck!

ALL on ONE canvas!!!

i started with this one...the sourdough baguette, love the humor...

in showing you some textures up as close as possible with my trusty little camera.
the ORANGY BLUE here is a copy of some sewn paper and fabric...loved how it turned out so realistic, yet not...

then some more UP CLOSE and personals...

i used some modeling paste here, with a stencil

a few stamps, i used as well, MY SISTER, the flower

this is how it is now...it will probably not look ANY thing like this when finished
it is 24" X 36" X 2"  no frame needed, gallery wrapped

on to the texture stamps i made and showed you in the last post.
this is the only thing that i have to show for now...i just HAD to see what they might look like. i am anxious to use them in some real paintings and i WILL be making more!!!!

this one, wasn't so fabulous, but will do some more exploring with it...the stamp itself could be used in a collage :)) ha, who knows!

and now ending with some more expensive paint palettes :)
i love the ones i can just toss when finished, but...
i also love the glass (gram's old roaster front)

and then an extreme fav...the glass front of a picture frame...they are so easy to either scrape clean with a razor blade or sit in water for a bit and voila!

and last but not least for your pure enjoyment of the season...
this is 2 years ago in november at my sister cookies house in
Seal Beach California...one can hear the waves from her house...lucky she is and lucky we are to share in this! talk about a perfect lullaby to make one sleep like a log!

HAPPY SEASONAL CHANGES TO ALL!

do you like her marbles, katie?

 ...or what she states?

...i'm betting on the ears! but one never knows when it's you at the wheel!

one of my expensive paint palettes, a salad container lid :))

i even made some funky texture stamps today...not good photography though, ha

i cut out some bubble wrap for some hand made stamps as well... when i get time, i'll show ya' all what their magic can do...hmm, we shall see!

and a real live, truly, stupendous, chilly autumn day...our crepe myrtles are still in bloom as it's been so summer "like" forever!

HAPPY TRAILS FOR ALL as we plug along on our journey's! XOXO

JOURNAL journey JOURNAL :)

in the drs. office waiting room, i found myself painting in my journal, thanks to ALISA BURKE turning me on to portable watercolor brushes, heh heh heh!

...and yet, another happy mistake. i am going to leave this funny little guy, just the way he is on my WIP! he leaves me chuckling every time i glance over, thinking...how will i finish this piece :)

winter time will be rollin' around here, sooner or later, and then THIS is the first dyed wool i am going to spin up!!! woo hoo, it's going to be colorful. and i see that fall and winter are going to be full of colors in the FASHION WORLD, so hoping this will be a fun and cheery scarflette!!!

in my summer journal...

we now own some property in SANTA CATALINA, PANAMA. we are beginning to build our new home away from home.

it's been hectic around here, but good. no time to visit you and your marvelous blogs...but soon i know there will be more time.
