MUST PLAY!!!

she ended up like this...going backward...
I am going to fix her flower and her lips a bit...

this was the first change I made and it looked very bad with her
abstract-y body...ergo the top is better

 one little close-up...

cover her up and then proceeded ;)

before the flower in her hair...

she is on an old cupboard door
14" X 37"

she reads;
"you must...
you KNOW...
PLAY..
EVERY day!!

40 FACES...

 THANK YOU Sharon Tomlinson...
I decided with ease to stop at 40...

I will continue to learn more and more about portraits,
(my first painting love)

this was a study (ALL OF THEM) that brought multiple gifts...
to name a few:

lighting on the piece
a mood
placement
perfect imperfections
happy accidents
searching the masters
searching for new ideas
color color color...
and loving black and white

those last notations barely skim the surface as to the wealth of information I found doing these...
as you can see there are two on the drawing board.
my hat goes off to all participants in this education as well as to others that go the extra miles!

I sent this into Cloth Paper Scissors,
it is a postcard suggestion they prompted...
it had to have something original that you painted and paper and cloth.
the magazine said, YOU WILL NOT GET THIS BACK...
we may or may not use all the entries in later issues and your
piece might show up in an ad..
this is one of those life lessons...
not such a deep or horrible one...but wanda wishes she wouldn't have given it away...
my heart must not have been ready to let her go...
so I share her with you, and read her words...
THEY ARE MEANT FOR YOU!
IF we could all gather round and create in the presence of one another...
oh what  gift!
i wish you were here

MANY faces...MANY feelings...MANY good changes!

 more INCH portraits...
i decided to add a little collage...

to avoid going mad over a bit of repetition in
some ways, wanting to continue learning,
from others as well as from INSIDEME ;)

 i discovered a most interesting man's work
Oswaldo Guayasamin
Ecudorian painter, 1919-1999
some of his work is Picasso-like and some not
but i am intrigued...

and gave this one and the one above a whirl
while copying.
i made huge discoveries that would probably bore everyone to death,
as to what this artist pointed out to me!
and of course didn't do him justice...

inside my head came this one while attempting Oswaldo's...
feeling very playful and letting the whim enter in!
ALWAYS...this makes new discoveries and ideas for future paintings...
after doing these "miniatures" i am ready to go back to LARGER sized!

a face lift for this sweetie...

that i am not sure i posted awhile back...
she's crackled and aged looking ;)

another little touch up and transformation
for this sweetie...

i WAS getting ready for our Auburn Artwalk, but am running ragged in all good ways...so i shan't be able to pull it off this go round.
i had some knee surgery that went exceptionally well, better than expected by all, drs. and myself!
i can't exactly run around, but will sooner than soon, and am happy i made it through to this side, and gratitude exploded within myself that i can climb our stairs to my studio, hobble around and able to do some art work!!!

HAPPY SATURDAY FRIENDS!!!
XOXO

 100 FACES

 i thought i'd do a little series of these...then
i can look back on them...

paint some much larger ones, along with some tweaking to
make them better
such FUN before driving off to work today!

 such GORGEOUS sunrises...

i share with you...
they NEVER cease to AMAZE me ;)

MIXED BAG INDEED!

in my journal, with Full Circle Class

a VALUE-able lesson today, over the top of that journal page...

another little waif, while running along with the 100 Faces peoples ;)

collage lesson in Full Circle
misty suggested we do line drawings over the top of them...
i did a "paint" line drawing with one of my favorite brushes!
i will probably tweak her some as it's darker than this photo.

still so EXCITED to learn so much!

100 FACES...more

spilled some paint on this little "incher" before getting to
the face...so i added water and loved the color.
this one was so tiny i could barely place the paper collage on
her head, even with tweezers ;)

extraordinary fun, even though i don't care for her lips!
there is this comfort zone that wants to change and alter,
but kept to the business of LOOSE and DONE
(for now anyway:)

this little lady took on the look of a moll,
and then she's sporting some of my hand dyed lace
(i have a hard time resisting to NOT clothe these)

pppft...love the background but not her...
this one was so dang teeny i just struggled immensely...

sharing a little piece of friendship here...

and here ~ in collaboration with my FUN FRIEND,
MIZ KATIE!

HAPPY WEEKEND FRIENDS
i'm pretending mine already started before driving off in my
car to work...
in the POURING rain we need desperately during this drought!

FULL CIRCLE CLASS & Sharon's ONE HUNDRED FACES, cont...

 #14 color

 #14 black and white

 #13
this is one of the best projects i've ever done
these 100 Faces
and education I would be able to get no other way than...
"DOING"

 fULL cIRCLE class calling
a side glance at a prepped canvas for LINE DRAWING...
i can't seem to touch it yet, i am savoring it as is for now

this is as tidy as it gets..
and is only a small table/portion of the rest of the studio...
we don't want to see that!
NEXT up...
MOVABLE walls to section off messes!

HAPPY CREATING DAYS TO ALL!

Wonderful Classes!

starting here with the 100 Faces/Inch Portraits...

 with Sharon Tomlinson
she has an open forum on Face Book if you are
interested and perusing other artists attempting and
learning, MUCH about ourselves as well as our painting skills...
One Hundred Faces/Face Book

i found a most wondrous artist/painter woman of late...
Her name, Ahou Sicong 1939-1996
i believe she was a watercolorist and i fell in love with her work.
this is my rendition in acrylics as i looked on to one of her paintings.
Ahou Sicong painted so very simplistic but holds much emotion and depth with such pastel colors and so much of that for the era...my feelings and opinions ;)
i took some liberties here with this little inchie and her work!

this is a great time to try out some techniques I've been curious about...
dipping a fountain pen into inks...
adding a few acrylics
and then watercolor background that i started out with...

another little "inch" that i painted just now..
i am learning so much from these tiny paintings...
i shall thank you again Sharon.
i am finding more patience that i could ever believe having...
these are all MOST IMPERFECT and am leaving them just as they are
for my own now/future studies.
this is a FANTASTIC LEARNING trial for me and hope
that it will enhance YOUR own curiosities and skills...

now this one is in my Full Circle Class...
this is the start of her and the next is the finished product...

as much as i love COLORFUL, i am loving using just
few colors on some of these in my journal.
i named this, this morning;
WATCHING HER CHILDREN

 Last up here;
a couple of journal pages...

painted and prepped for more quick, intuitive studies...

yes, i am LEARNING and LOVING it!

Wishing you all a GREAT WEEKEND!
