Another Fine...

A good friend, mary jo and i went to lunch last tuesday to "high hand nursery". the cafe was closed. we weren't sorry as you can see...we just left there hungry, with many photos!!! Don't know when i can make it back upstairs again, i'm heading down...oooh!

Seriously, i've been down for the count, joining you jennifer white. i wrenched my lower back on friday and just now made it upstairs to my computer. if wishes were lap tops!!!! i'm not asking for sympathy or prayers. i can walk somewhat now, whew. don't know when i'll make it up here again, but it's a good incentive.

Retorts to your wonderful comments, or just regular ones, i loooove em' all.

Miz katie, everywhere i go, all my life, i've been told i look exactly like...a niece, a daughter, an aunt, and since i'm turning 60 soon, i should be hearing, wow, you look just like my old granny or granny's friend...se la vie!

anonymous asked did i paste my self on the card or something like that....this is so funny..this was a picture that richard took of me in panama, with white gesso splattered on it.

and the last and weirdest post, i thought about sending a u-tube to you stephanie lee, similar to the one you said i sent. but i know i get so much stuff in my e-mail, didn't want to do that to a friend. and yes i would lovvvvvvvvvve to do something like this, but how could we, without all being together. i have rec'd 2 different ones with people dancing in an airport. they give me chills, i think they are so awesome! i can't write to peeps separately yet...when i get my back, back. smiles, wanda

Self Portrait~Wednesdays with Misty / Spring Oak Leaves

I thought this looked like an old hawaiian postcard with Old Auntie Mabel gracing the front. Nope, it's me in Panama with a wet scarf falling off my short hair...it's hot there, baby!
This is what we've been doing, my husband, Richard and I. He asked me to draw some oak leaves, then suprised me with these rods and leaves. We have some more work to do on the mechanics, but i love them (and him) and just wanted to share. I'm going to dye the cheese cloth soon!

Struggles

I painted a picture of a woman one day. Her dress was hideous, her face, well, i liked it then. so i went off the cliff and cut her head out and thought i'll attempt a collage. well, I was almost finished with this piece after working on it off and on for a week. When it was near done, i hated it. i hated her facial expression too. so i waited, almost threw it away...then this morning i made changes on her face and added a few more "things". She is ready to frame..

The top left says "i flew to the cottage and it was lovelier than.." And the center words, "I am here to live out loud". The bottom left says "Sweet, Sweet Moonlight".

The foundation is plaster substrate on felt and paint

Fabric paper, plaster, dyed cheese cloth, tiny dried flowers on her neck, fabric flower on her hair and more...I do like it now!

"I AM" / Misty's Wednesdays!

Here is where integrity comes in, i do believe.

i wanted to buy a painting that looked like this for my graceful daughter, Erin, many moons ago. But alas, just couldn't pay the price.

so i sketched her and have painted her 3 times now.

This was the 3rd.

Altered her, cut her out, danced her into my collage. (I don't know the mans name unfortunately, but did talk to him exstenively. A beautiful man inside he is.)

Here's the closest i could get to what i wanted to say to you my darlin' daughter. xoxo momba
