MUSIC IN MY HEART AND SOUL

Holy Moly, now i know the meaning of giving birth to a painting, make that two! After showing these a while back (forever) as work in progress...they were almost a scourge to me.
they have been turned against 3 different walls, then turned back around, they were touched up and re-touched in eensy increments...i screamed, no they are wrong, this is wrong, that is wrong...well then richard made me beautiful frames and painted them...and then they were okay and then...yesterday i looked at the music sheets and all the subtle colors and then woke up this morning completely in love...crazy huh?!
I'm going this week to the gallery to exchange paintings, so there will be new and fresh faces litterally and then as i looked at these 2 this morning, i thought...if they don't sell i'd love them on our walls and they make me think of my sister and i, with so much depth and history to tell...Crazy huh?!
17 1/2" X 32"
Acrylics, painted torn paper, torn sheet music, ink, stencils, tears, laughter, screams, delight....yeah, you get the picture!!!
she reads:
"enter the dimension of music...and FLY unfettered!"she reads:
"moving toward uncertainty...she emerged with music!"

Tangled Sky and Alice's Time!

Okay, carolyn, if you want to know how i did this, and if you want words, then you'll have to come over and see and i'll tell you.
and you'll get to see beth's work up close and personal, and you won't believe how wondrous her work is!
This one is "ask alice about the time"...the answer is a play on the painting!!!
Enjoy!! the joy of serious humor!!! 8" X 8" X 2" thick

Per, my usual...i did this completely backwards...i wanted to show beth's work before mine!!

Here is what i won from beth at: http://tangledskystudio.blogspot.com/! you can go in for a closer view on all the photos...along with this, beth surprised me with 2 cards she created as well, including instructions on how to care for encaustic paintings. i told her i could not part with her cards, and am going to make frames for them and make a little grouping on my wall with her work. Her work is incredible, so subtle, with little found nuances as your explore each piece. and they will speak to you...truly the pictures are just pictures compared to her work in reality. i am so GRATEFUL! and on top of it all, there is my favorite...HUMOR!!!

it was difficult to get a photo that would show beth's work as it should be, but because of the my abilities and her encaustics, i couldn't get a good shot...honestly!

a happy accident, i thought was really cool...beth's painting in front of mine...which of course does not do her work justice!!! beth's are the very coolest in person!

The Three Faces of Eve

Wellllll......this is her 3rd face, about the 5th mouth...annnd...i am not excited about her....but, i thought i should show how some things just don't turn out to meet your expectations, and that one might struggle away to try and make it better, but only better, not best...and that's OKAY, lesson learned more than once and will again, soooo glean what one can and get MOVIN' on, eh?
on another humorous note...her first face looked like a vampire, her second looked like an old shriveled up, prunish type lady that i would never like to meet and now....

annnnd...especially for you, miss carolyn...she has a fabric collar and the strip on the side is dyed paper towel with another strip of fabric over that...look familiar? look closer...annnd i keep thinking of rae every time i want to change her lips...'cause it's an expression rae has often...like she has a secret...where are you rae rae, are you coming in october with lea? xoxoxox

Getting prepared for the October Art Walk and the Wine and Food Festival

these little bewitching hangers are all about 31/2" X 5"...
hanging a total of 9" including the beads, buttons and wire.
Whenever i am painting my larger pictures, i always apply the left over paint to something for future use...i had used paint to apply background techniques on the cards.
i cut them into fourths to paint the little witches.

...join me for a brew?

...such an enchanted evening!VERY VERY FUN TO DO!
SOLD!

Growing LARGE!...and to SHARE!

I have painted some canvas', larger, way larger than my usual. the last one i did was 24"X34". and these 2 that i have exposed are15"X30".
when we share we grow and when we grow we share!
this is how the panels started out...
vandyke brown painted over white gesso ( i purchase these flat canvas' for $3. at the thrift store).
then i spray painted with white and black "valspar odds and ends" mini spray paint cans (on sale at michaels) over stencils.
one canvas i have muted down and shall on the other when nearly done. i just started painting without sketching, 2 different females, with titanium white and van dyke brown.

this one was first ( the colors are NOT true, i'll be taking them outside when finished so we can all appreciate them more!)
as you can see her hair is stenciled...i painted white and brown over the areas and then rubbed a wet rag over this paint for the black and white "effect".

i decided to leave her hair mainly white, as i loved the first female better before i covered it with the stenciling gig. i'd like them to go together as a pair of paintings, but they will stand on their own, single, as is.
Now my favorite but hard part, i must dress them, whether that be fabric and paint or paint and fabric! i'll show the final ladies when finished.
i truly want to encourage or help or advise with ANYTHING i can about going LARGE! it is a huge difference in so many ways, yet such an exciting learning curve as is all painting to me. i will gladly answer any questions now or even later...i am always so appreciative to those that have shared with me.

you can enlarge all or any of these to have a closer view.
they shall have words applied, i cannot break myself away from storytelling yet, if ever! and then my sweet husband and i will talk about how to frame them!
and funny thing...i am taking a break from the "august break"...it's exhausting and not enough time to post every single day...it was fun while it lasted!!!

"THE AUGUST BREAK"

Such fun while on vacation with my 3 sisters, this is NOT my normal morning routine, but it sure was fun!!
hmm...which one...i think i'll use this as my morning, strength training...
mimosa, water, mimosa, water...:)
well, personally, this bloody mary suits me fine, thank you...

oops, is that salsa i spilled on my morning frock!!!

Lost in Translation

Richard and i are not doing too well in learning spanish...while in panama we had some interesting drinks and meals...this was our favorite...we laughed till we cried, but we did it as slyly as possible so as not to offend anyone as this is our problem in translation, not anyone else's...
yes, this is a slice of craft's single american cheese and then...

...
...in it's entirety, "ala"... richard's ham and cheese omelet! :))
