last night i cut out a few flower shapes from some tyvek...

then...

i thought i'd try to get my brain going this fine saturday, so

i jumped in with only the very first stimulus michelle suggested,

simple monoprints...then took a snooze, so i didn't get any further

for today!

but...this was such fun, and she was right...it starts you thinking

in all directions...i now have a start for some cute bookmarks and such!

and...i plan to stamp some printed words on some of them...i did already

cut some up for collage..and then...and then...you get the idea!!!

She emerged like a flower, passing all the ladybugs!!!

collaged a background...then painted her face and neck...

made some fabric paper for her dress

chose, cut, ripped and sewed on her garden dress

i painted some dried fern leaves for her hair...

sewed some pretty flowers so she'd have a garden,

to pass through...

she emerged...

finished, without her "words"!

our flowering plum tree...makes the best tart plum jam!!!

our real plum tree...lots of plums, this summer...yum!

down the road from us, is an old farm house...the

forsythia in their yard was beautiful, all of march!

...ooh...paint, pens, ink, hand dyed cheese cloth, papers and dried flowers for wings...oh, how they all flew and GLUE, too!

FRIENDSHIP

i just have to say...go in closer for a texture view...

..this was an interesting process for me...

the foundation was from not wasting paint on another background

paper...paint, light molding paste, one impression made, i started to put it back on the gloppy paint i had going on...wait...i lovvvve these colors, i lovvve this look...LEAVE IT ALONE AND LET IT DRY!

then the painting itself came fairly easy. and i liked the look of lefty there with the foundation peeking through, but thought...hmm ...it's such an unusual color and started to paint her face some more...wait...LEAVE HER ALONE, JUST go FOR IT! do you like it...hmmm...no....i LOVE IT!...

then put the paintbrush down!!!!

lots more went into the process of this than said here...i wanted to share SOME of it.

then a decision on words, no words, collage dresses, dried flowers???? decisions, decisions....

then after having such deep and wonderful conversations with joanne rose (http://joannerose.net)

the words finally came!!!!!!!!

listen, hear, stillness and whispers...

then last night (whew) it's getting lonnnng here...

i was thinking about friends that are tangible and friends that are met in cyberspace...

how fortunate we women are in sooooo many ways...like our friendships, and how we can confide and love one another, appreciate and learn from one another...UNCONDITIONALLY!

XXOO...this painting represents some of those grateful feelings about the truest and lovliest of friends...be they tangible or cyberspace...they make such a wonderful, tremendous gift in our lives!

maybe i should put a title to it..."our blessings"??!!

this was such a delight to do...i started before i went to work one day...froze my paint...and continued today with paint and sewing...she is feeling the spring air!!!!

Random pretty things...

...just imagine not seeing the sun much at all this winter...

and then waking up yesterday to a bedroom filled with pink...

so pink, i sprang out of bed, ran outside and captured some pictures...

the sun took an hour to come over this ridge...so very stunning

and AWESOME in my sight...

okay...here are the words, carolyn..

yesterday...i started out to "kinda copy" this picture i liked...

so i gathered up ephemera...you know the drill...ribbons, musical notes,

fabric...oooh i love gathering colors of different species together...

i THINK more than the creation outcome!

it took on a different life to start creating when the various materials were gathered...totally and extremely and i am glad about that...i'm almost afraid to say how i put it together thinking it might spoil it's mystery, sooo...simply, here it is...

i know i know, my recent faces are beginning to look the same...

it's funny how one starts out looking at some other face and when you are finished you say....

wow or hmmm ...where in the world did this one come from...what a wonderful mystery!!!

and so now i have to work on making AT LEAST some subtle changes....

hmmm....this should be most interesting!!!!

THE BLUES

i had another dream, right after the one about the

"ta da" girls...and so i got out paints the very next morning...

this is not the painting i dreamed of but they

are the exact colors...blue and dark brown...

MIGHT be peeking underneath!

"Ta Da" Series

..been feeling whimsical this last week...a little

more than usual...ergo...i guess this should be

called a series, in that i did 4 in a row...never did that before...

and loving all those feelings...thinking stuff like: hmmm....

what should the next little cutie be doin' or thinkin'...

how powerful this is to do whatever YOU want...

all the choices are yours...hmmm...the next series maybe....?

and a heartfelt thank you to misty and miz katie whom have

certainly influenced some of my choices and directions!! xoxox

Painted Card

This will have something humorous written on the front...

i painted a card for my husband's aunt who just lost

her husband after 60 years!

she just found out i painted and wanted to know

what kinds of things...this will be an example...

she can hold on to it or toss it...it will be hers...

Know WHEN to SIMPLIFY!

shes's not quite done...

somethings been happening over here...

since the last few classes i've taken, i started

posting everywhere, fb, flicker, your group,

my group, everybody's group...yikes...

no mas i think.

i am going to just post here...everyone has choices, eh?

there is an extremely supportive group on this

latest class with misty, but i am driving myself

insane...i who like things as simplistic as

possible in my life...sooo..oh so what some may

say...i must remember that this is also a journal for myself...

not omitting, EVER those that support me.

back to this piece...charcoal sketch on charcoal paper,

acrylic paint, collage paper for her dress...

and had to glue her down to a good piece of

watercolor paper when i got the paint out!....

whew...that was a mouthful!

and by the way...thank you from the bottom of

my heart, to you supporters and looky lou's...

i am going to try and come up with a gift that

everyone might like!!!??? soon!

"Listen and Act on It"

this is from our lessons with misty...

a pencil sketch from lesson 1, paint layers from lesson 2,

and collage and inks from lesson 3.

i used tea bags, i stamped, ink wash over them,

and acrylic paints...

Charcoal and Shiva Sticks....

yikes...haven't been around here for awhile...

class has been in with misty and i have

been practicing like mad...and loving it all!!!

she's a wonderfully tough task master...

with no regrets here on learning and learning...

she's getting closer to being finished...

i am awaiting misty's answer on how to

get into the eye area for details, while using the oils...

Learning in class again...

i am learning and loving this...yes, another class and with misty.

this first week is pencil, erasers and smudgers.

funny thing is, i've never sketched much and went

right to painting...didn't know ANYTHING...and so now i know

this will help with my painting...

January art Journaling with Misty

misty's prompt...our photo's incorporated into our artwork...

the woman is from my painting, printed on silk, some fabrics

sewn...the substrate is a book cover i painted to look like wood,

this work is close to being finished...

i am making eyelits and chain to turn this into a "hanging" piece.

we're practicing in our sketchbooks for misty's new

class..."painting faces"... nothing i've ever done

on a regular basis...except last January...while following

misty's prompts...very different from painting and quite

interesting!
